All suites and guestrooms have lanais (balconies) for enjoying the views, a compact refrigerator, cable television with Pay-Per-View movies, and a Nintendo game console. The Maui Coast provides guests with the comfort of padded lounge chairs on the sundeck surrounding its pool complex, which includes a swimming pool, a children's pool, and two hot tubs. Driving directions from Kahului Airport: Exit airport and follow road through two traffic lights. Go straight through the second intersection to Dairy Rd. (Hwy. 380) and follow to fourth traffic light. Bear left at signal (signs lead to Kihei). Follow Mokulele Hwy. (Hwy. 311) to the end, approximately 5 miles. At second traffic light, bear left onto Piilani Hwy. (Hwy. 31). Follow approximately 4.25 miles to the Alanui Ke Alii Rd., and turn right. Follow Alanui Ke Alii to the stop sign at the bottom of the hill. At the stop sign, bear right onto South Kihei Rd. The second property will be the Maui Coast Hotel.

Amenity highlights: Smart shops and restaurants, various beaches, and a complimentary shuttle service throughout Kihei Town and 2.5 miles south to the exclusive resort community of Wailea and its championship golf courses permit guests to experience a complete Sun Coast vacation without the expense of a rental car. Insider tip: Although the Maui Coast Hotel is across the street from a public park with a nice beach, a half-mile south is a better beach—a long, uncrowded stretch of sand called Keawakapu Beach that begins in front of the Mana Kai Resort. Next to the Mana Kai is a public parking lot. Signs point the way to the beach, which offers great snorkeling along its rocky northern terminus, terrific boogie boarding when the tradewinds blow, and long tropical-fantasy walks. Buildings along the beach seldom exceed palm-tree height, somewhat preserving the illusion that the beachfront is undeveloped.
