Maui Kamaole Hotel - Kihei Hawaii
Contemporary condominium resort on Maui's Sun Coast Nearby uncrowded beaches and four outstanding golf courses, this condominium resort offers full access to South Maui's quiet Sun Coast community of Kihei. The blue ocean across the street sparkles in the sunlight, and the West Maui mountains loom to the north. Contemporary guest units are furnished with island-style furniture and include a lanai (patio or balcony) for enjoying the Sun Coast's sunny, dry climate and views of the blue Pacific or the resort's tropical gardens and immaculate grounds. Two pools, two whirlpool spas, gas-fired barbecue grills, and two tennis courts provide recreation alternatives to the many beaches within a few minutes' driving time. Kihei's principal public-park beach is just across the street. An activities desk reserves golf times and arranges activities.

Both feature local ingredients prepared with award-winning finesse. Joe's Bar and Grill - Located in the Wailea Tennis Center, a 10-minute drive south of Aston Maui Hill, Joe's is owned by former Kingston Trio member Joe Gannon and his chef-wife Beverly. AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: Relaxation, rest, and peace-and-quiet are what draw families, couples, and honeymooners to Kihei. The resort lives up to that promise while providing a community atmosphere for vacationers who regard their condominium units as a second home. A weekly highlight of the resort's low-key, convivial tone is a complimentary coffee-and-donuts get-together. Amenity highlights: The largest of three public-park beaches and the only one with off-street parking, Kamaole III lies across the street from the resort. Like all beaches in South Maui, it's uncrowded. There's also good snorkeling among rocks and coral. To the delight of snorkeling and scuba-diving enthusiasts, the tiny island of Molokini, renowned for the clarity of its surrounding water, is not far offshore, and excursions are easy to arrange through the resort's activities desk. Insider tip: Large, beautiful Keawakapu Beach begins in front of the Mana Kai Resort a few minutes' drive from Maui Kamaole. Next to the Mana Kai is a public parking lot. Signs point the way to the beach, which offers great snorkeling along its rocky northern terminus, terrific boogie boarding when the tradewinds blow, and long tropical-fantasy walks. (Buildings along the beach seldom exceed palm-tree height, somewhat preserving the illusion that the beachfront is undeveloped.)

A mile from the resort is a shopping center with a 24-hour supermarket. In the resort's small lobby there's an activities desk for booking tours, excursions, luaus, and car rentals.
